Nepal Travel: My Experience, Tips & Stories

Nepal

A personal introduction to Nepal: stories, tips, and real experiences from my months living, traveling, and trekking across the country.

Why Nepal Means So Much to Me

Nepal and I — it’s a real love story.

I had been dreaming about visiting Nepal for a long time, without really knowing why. I knew very little about the country, except its mountains, spiritual atmosphere, and colorful Tibetan prayer flags. Something in me was simply drawn to it.

I went there for the first time in 2018, just for two weeks, and I absolutely loved it. But I quickly realized I had only scratched the surface. Deep down, I knew I would come back one day — even if it took years.

Seven years later, I returned. The plan was six weeks… but I ended up staying four months. I trekked to Everest Base Camp, volunteered on a farm with a local family, traveled at my own pace, and lived in Kathmandu. I made friends, created a routine, and found my favorite spots, soaking in the energy of the place.

From peaceful temples to lively cafés, from random conversations to long nights out, from a traditional wedding to small everyday moments — Nepal felt like a second home.

What struck me most was the kindness, generosity, and openness of the Nepali people. You immediately feel welcomed, and since many speak English, connecting is easy. Their simplicity and presence touched me deeply — people live with little, yet with so much warmth and meaning. Religion and spirituality are everywhere: festivals, rituals, daily offerings… there’s always something happening, and it adds so much soul to the experience.

I know this story isn’t over — I will return to Nepal again.

Trekking in Nepal

I’m also happy to recommend Touren Nepal Trek, the agency I used for my Everest Base Camp trek.

I had a great experience with them — supportive, helpful before and during the trek, and truly kind people. They can help you prepare, rent or buy gear, arrange transportation, and even invite you for a traditional dinner with a Nepali family, one of my favorite moments.

If you book with them, you can mention “Camille” — not for financial reasons, just so they know you come from my community, and you may get a small extra bonus (like a free piece of gear, a little discount, or an added service, depending on what you book). I don’t earn anything from this — I simply want travelers to have as good an experience as I had.If you have questions, feel free to contact me or reach out to them directly. You can check their services and packages on their website.
